Founded in 1975 at the initiative of Prince Rainier III, the Monégasque Association for the Protection of Nature (AMPN) is dedicated to safeguarding Monaco’s marine ecosystems and raising public awareness of environmental issues.The association manages the Larvotto Marine Reserve (33 ha) and the Spélugues Reef Marine Reserve (2 ha), two protected marine areas essential to Mediterranean biodiversity.
In collaboration with H.S.H. Prince Albert II, his Foundation, and the Monégasque Government, AMPN continues its mission through research, conservation, and education — notably via the Monaco Marine Educational Area, launched in 2018 to inspire younger generations to preserve the marine environment.
