ACTIVE EVENTS

Monte Carlo Spring Arts Festival – RAVEL & MESSIAEN

This evening unites two monumental works that transcend time and space.

  • Ravel’s Trio in A minor delves into a poetic and rhythmic exploration, blending the influences of Basque dance and Southeast Asian pantoum poetry with rich textures and orchestral effects.
  • Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, composed in the harrowing confines of a WWII prisoner-of-war camp, is a profound meditation on eternity and the spiritual. Its movements evoke vivid imagery, from bird calls to apocalyptic fury, culminating in moments of divine stillness and transcendence.

As the festival’s grand finale, this performance celebrates the timeless beauty and universal appeal of music, while paying homage to the legacy of Pierre Boulez in nurturing future generations of artists.
