Visit the Cafe de Paris to be treated very poorly!!
Spent all afternoon out the front of the Cafe de Paris then picked up my bill to take inside to pay as it was going off a bit cold so we chose to go inside to sit at the bar, we were then spoken to very rudely by the waiter that had served us all afternoon outside as he thought we had got up and left without paying, he continued to be rude and said we are not allowed to come from outside inside as you have to pay outside and you can’t pay inside, this is very strange that they are the same establishment and being run as separate businesses. We then expressed to see the manager who was also very rude to my partner, it then transpired that the reason the waiter was so irate as they get the money stopped out of there wages for unpaid bills so the waiter thought he was going to have to pay €311!! That’s disgusting that they take the money from their staff! The night before was similar, we were going to have some food outside and there were prawns on the menu, we came inside as it was going a bit cold and no prawns on the menu, my partner asked and got told she couldn’t have the prawns as they were outside and not inside!! Same establishment!! She asked if she could order them outside and bring them in to eat them and got told no. It’s a shame this place is being ran so poorly as it’s in a beautiful location right in the square but customer service skills and continuity in the business leaves a lot to be desired!!

it is worth it even for a coffee.
The location is excellent. We had a coffee while waiting for our friends to arrive. From other reviews and rumors we had heard that it was extremely expensive—for example, €18 for a coffee—which is not true. It is certainly an expensive café, but not as dramatic as people say. Considering the location, the atmosphere, and the service, the prices are reasonable. I will definitely visit it again.

An icon of the city of Monte Carlo entrusted to incompetent staff. Bad service, coffee served without sugar bowl, desserts served without napkins, an undrinkable coffee affogato. Elusive, distracted staff was a disappointment I had been missing for many years. It wasn't like that before.

Definitely a high-end gem with high prices — but absolutely worth it. I really enjoyed my almond milk coffee and the gorgeous design of the place. Based on my experience, it was surprisingly hard to find non-dairy milk in local cafés, so this was a lovely find.
I only wish I had time to stay and try a meal here as well.

Still my favorite, after so many years...
I am very surprised to read so many negative reviews. It's like they're not about where we're going to have lunch at least once a week.
The new decor is beautiful. You want the Brasserie style, with brass and stained glass windows, you ask for a table on the ground floor. You want open and bright, you ask for a table upstairs.
The food is abundant and well prepared. If, very rarely, there is a small problem, it is very quickly corrected.
Prices are reasonable compared to others in town, where you will pay ten euros less on a dish, but when this dish is ultimately mediocre or horrible, this is where the "cheap" becomes "too expensive". So I cheerfully give a little more to the Cafe de Paris, where I can finish my plate with pleasure.
I find everyone very friendly, and in fact, it's one of the few places in Monaco where the staff seem happy to see you arrive.
As for the waiters, although it is assumed that being kind, courteous, fast and always happy is just part of their job, they are primarily human. And, as is the case with most humans, a little smile and a friendly attitude on your part when you arrive will certainly have an effect on how you will be treated in return.
I loved Café de Paris in 1957 when I was 17, and I love it now, in 2026. The scenery has changed, and yes, although not always for the better, the way of dressing to go has changed. But the spirit remains.

A must do in Monaco
Visited on the spur of the moment with my daughter for lunch.
Seated promptly and given menus and offered table water.
In spite of some reviews we found the waiting staff very efficient and we're soon presented with our drinks and food.
I had the Bolognese and my daughter had a chicken Caesar salad (huge!) Fresh orange juice for her, a Pina colada for me.
Declined a dessert.
The cafe itself is beautiful, although it did feel a bit 'Disney'.
I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Monaco.

A place of worship in the middle of town. Historic interiors. They ordered tea, coffee, desserts and wine. Have a nice time. Prices are quite acceptable

Terrible service
We booked a table in advance, we arrived 30mins early and were told to wait until the booked time although there were empty tables. At the time of our booking approached reception, who told me they were cleaning the tables and had to wait more. After 20 minutes receptionist came saying that our table hadn't been cleaned yet so we had the choice of taking a table at the back of the room or keep waiting (there were lots of empty tables at the main room). No apology, no explanation and no willingness from the staff to look for an alternative We left. never back again

Has the WOW factor
My wife and i have just returned from the South of France and without doubt, this was the best meal we had in the week we were there. Firstly, the location is superb. We sat on the roof terrace, in the sun, in Casino Square. The waiters were polite and attended to the table quickly. Our food was simply perfect, there was nothing at all you could have faulted. It really was the highlight of our trip.

I truly wish I could recommend Café de Paris, especially after its long renovation, because the interior looks beautiful and the location is iconic. I even tend to bring guests here when they visit Monaco, simply for the atmosphere and the sense of place.
Unfortunately, the service is consistently the worst I have experienced anywhere in the world. On one occasion, we started with champagne, then ordered wine, and later non-alcoholic drinks. All the used glasses and cups remained on the table throughout the entire evening — not a single one was cleared. We even moved them to one side to make it obvious, yet no one bothered to remove anything. We ended up having dinner surrounded by a pile of dirty glassware, which is absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone an emblematic one in Monte-Carlo.
The food is another disappointment: extremely basic, uninspired, and simply not worth the price. Nothing stands out, and nothing matches the grandeur of the setting.
In the end, apart from the beautiful location and décor, the experience is extremely mediocre. I do not recommend Café de Paris — it survives on its address and history, not on its service or cuisine.

A unique moment of relaxation with excellent coffee and croissants
Café de Paris, although an iconic place in Monte Carlo, was not something we planned to visit due to the lack of time during our one-day visit to Monaco. But after a three hundred kilometer drive from Viareggio, Italy, we were craving a good coffee, and the first café we came across was Café de Paris. Stopped for a drink before we went into the casino. It’s right in the square which makes for a great people watching spot, however it’s objectively expensive for what’s served. For example, a Heineken was €17 and a coffee, which seemed as though it was from “bean to cup machine” was €8 (and served in a dirty glass).

Great cocktail, food and atmosphere sat out front. Ruined by poor service from one particular waiter who had no interest in serving me (ordered another drink that never arrived), or taking my payment. Even though he had just taken payment of two other tables and was passing me with the card machine he retuned the machine to the station and another much more pleasant waiter came to take payment. Disappointing experience honestly.

Super nice café in front of the Casino in Monte-Carlo. We went there without a reservation and got a spot at a high table in the bar area upstairs. We got a Salmon Tartar and of course I had to try the Crepe Suzette. I also had a cocktail, which was really strong. The crepe is with alcohol. I never tried this before and it was a new experience. For me the taste of alcohol was a bit too strong. I guess I would have enjoyed an alcoholfree version more. But it was still delicious nonetheless. After our visit we went outside on the balcony and the view was very pleasant.

It was our first time visiting and we were blown away by the warm and friendly service. We had an amazing table with a great view of the Casino. This was not the cheapest lunch I have ever had but the food, service, and ambiance was 2nd to none. The cafe was elegantly decorated. Every time you looked around you saw something different that you missed the first time. While the building was luxurious looking you could tell it was starting to show some wear and tear. We choose to sit inside as opposed to the terrace outside. The location right next to the casino is perfect. The food was delicious.

The appearance, menu, and atmosphere of this restaurant set very high expectations which unfortunately are not met because of the surprisingly slow service and mismatch of price to quality of the food - both taste and delivery. I ordered the truffle pasta and I received it slightly cold - while taste was mediocre with a ton of cream and overcooked pasta. Overall I wouldn’t choose the place again for something beyond coffee/drinks/dessert.

It was my first visit to Café de Paris after its reconstruction, and it did not disappoint! I made an excellent choice with the salmon and rice, which was perfectly cooked and flavorful. However, the highlight of our meal was the dessert—I highly recommend trying the crêpe Suzette. Fun fact: this iconic dessert was originally invented in Monaco at the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo, making it a must-try for anyone dining here!

Disappointing Experience - Café de Paris, Monte Carlo We were excited to visit Café de Paris, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. Early in the afternoon, there was no service on the upper terrace, and most of the cakes were already gone. The service was chaotic and very slow, with a long line of people waiting for tables, even though many were visibly empty. The location is lovely, but the overall experience was underwhelming. Hopefully, they improve their organization and service in the future. 3/5 stars.

An institution that is definitely worth seeing if only for the history and great views of the casino and Hotel De Paris. The food and views were great but I’m shocked at how horrible the service was. To start off, I ordered the mocktail, Pretty Mama. We get the drinks and it definitely had alcohol in it. We told our waiter who continued to argue with us and promise there wasn’t any. He angrily took it away and came back 20 min later just to tell us there was in fact alcohol in it. He apologized so whatever. But then we also ordered the beef tartare which on the menu says “prepared at your table.” We received it fully prepared and when asking the waiter, he copped an attitude saying it’s at your table and we continued to tell him that the menu says “prepared at table”. We ended up giving up but didn’t feel welcome at all throughout the dinner despite it being fairly empty for a Saturday night. Just not the service we expected for spending so much money.

Spent an afternoon on the outside terrace upstairs. Very good service, helpful and jovial staff. However, given that it was July, it was very hot and the terrace had nothing for cooling, just umbrellas (no fans, no water vapor system). Good food, very good and served qiuckly even though it was very crowded. Very clean brasserie, very clean toilets, although it was very crowded.

Had drinks here to celebrate my son's birthday as we were visiting Monaco for the day. Just had to be done! Also we just got in in time before the people off the cruise ship arrived. It was lovely to sit and people watch whilst sipping our drinks! Drinks not too badly priced to say where we were. €10 for a beer and €13 for a lovely glass of presecco, paid more in worst places!
